Textile Genesis is helping M&S trace materials from their origin to the final product, building a transparent data-driven supply chain across their extensive retail operations. Using Textile Genesis’s blockchain-inspired technology, M&S is able to trace sustainable materials from their source, ensuring authenticity and provenance while strengthening compliance checks across their global supply network.

From Pilot to Market-Leading Scale In 2023/24, M&S successfully tracked more than 12 million garments made of man-made cellulosic fibers (MMCF) across their supply chain, from fiber mills to M&S stores. This represents one of the largest commercial implementations of textile traceability technology in retail.

Comprehensive Material Coverage M&S has expanded their traceability program beyond the initial MMCF focus to include recycled polyester, with systematic plans to trace all preferred viscose, lyocell, modal and polyester fibers by the end of 2024/25. This comprehensive approach ensures full visibility across their sustainable textile portfolio.

Strengthening Compliance The Textile Genesis platform provides M&S with enhanced compliance monitoring capabilities, allowing them to verify supplier claims and ensure materials meet their rigorous sustainability standards. This data-driven approach supports their commitment to responsible sourcing and supply chain transparency.
