From Pilot to Market-Leading Scale In 2023/24, M&S successfully tracked more than 12 million garments made of man-made cellulosic fibers (MMCF) across their supply chain, from fiber mills to M&S stores. TextileGenesis are helping ON trace materials from their origin to the final product, building a transparent data-driven supply chain.

Using TextileGenesis’s blockchain-inspired technology, in combination with third-party certifications, ON are able to trace materials from their source, including organic cotton and recycled polyester, ensuring data integrity and alignment with their sustainability goals.

From Pilot to Real Progress

In 2024, ON created a traceability map for five products: 3 apparel and 2 footwear items. A FiberCoin was assigned to each fiber, creating a digital thread from origin to finished product.

Background

In July 2023, Supima launched the AQRe Project—a cutting-edge dual traceability system that combines Oritain’s isotopic verification with TextileGenesis’ digital chain of custody. The initiative replaces Supima’s traditional paper-based licensing system and reimagines traceability as a built-in feature of brand engagement.

TextileGenesis’ Role in AQRe:

TextileGenesis powers the digital traceability aspect of AQRe, starting at the spinning mill. Spinners input their Permanent Bale Identification (PBI) for Supima cotton into the platform. The platform uses Fibercoins, representing 1 kg of cotton, to track Supima throughout the value chain. A custom version of the platform was developed exclusively for Supima, embedding brand licensing into the traceability process. The licensing fee is incorporated into the spinner’s traceability cost, spreading cost burden across the chain.

Verifying Suppliers and Preferred Materials

In 2023, Lulu Lemon began partnering with TextileGenesis to verify adopted preferred materials in their products – starting with recycled polyester and nylon, as well as regenerated cellulosics. Lulu Lemon began enrolling their supply chain in the TextileGenesis traceability platform to support the scale of their preferred materials work.

Responsible Sourcing

Lulu Lemon use regenerated cellulosic materials—such as rayon/viscose, lyocell, and modal—as well as natural rubber in some of our products. One hundred percent of their regenerated cellulosic fibers are
sourced responsibly. They use CanopyStyle Audits to verify suppliers are at low risk of sourcing from ancient or endangered forests. In 2023, they also implemented TextileGenesis’ traceability platform, as an additional verification step to to continuously monitor and certify regenerated cellulosics data.

The traceability program supports Lulu Lemon in meeting their target to:
• Certify or assess by a third party 100% of our forest-based materials are sourced responsibly by 2023. Through the TextileGenesis traceability platform Lulu Lemon are able to continuously monitor and certify the data.

Through this partnership, TextileGenesis is supporting Lulu Lemon in driving forward its commitment to developing materials with lower environmental impacts and responsibly sourcing agricultural fibers. What Is eTrackit?

eTrackit is a digital tracking solution designed to:

The platform works by assigning Fibercoins to each unit (typically kg) of certified material, starting at the origin (e.g., a ginner or spinner). As the material flows through the supply chain, each transaction is recorded digitally—ensuring that what ends up in the final garment can be linked back to its certified source.

Through Strategic Partnership

Recover, a global producer of recycled cotton and cotton-blend fibers, has commenced a traceability collaboration with TextileGenesis to digitally track their recycled waste materials across the entire textile value chain.

The Pilot

The collaboration focuses on tracing Recover’s recycled cotton and polycotton inputs from fiber production through to finished garments. Two representative styles were selected to test the platform across different supply chain configurations. TextileGenesis’ Fibercoin technology was used to generate digital tokens for every kilo of material, creating a verified chain of custody at each transformation stage.

The pilot marks a significant milestone in Recover’s circularity roadmap, demonstrating how digital traceability can validate recycled content, drive supplier participation, and enable regulatory compliance, particularly in preparation for the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP). This pilot with Textile Genesis’ traceability solution intends to complement Recover’s existing physical tracer and GRS certification, adding another layer of traceability and transparency.

Traceability as a foundation for circularity and regulatory readiness

Fiber-to-retail traceability will enable Recover and its brand partners to access a verified digital chain of custody. This includes authenticated recycled content claims, integration with physical tracer audits where relevant, and visibility into supplier ESG credentials across the chain.
